Back in 2005 Stanford Bio-medical superstar John Ioanidis blew the lid off of ‘P-hacking’ in his bombshell article “Why Most Published Research Findings are False” which trashed twenty-five years and billions of dollars worth of bad research designed to mistake noise for signal. Graduate students were actually given research manuals which advised them to work backwards from a statistically significant random result to a hypothesis as the quick way to publish—the exact opposite of what real science does.
Five years later came the Amgen study which set out to replicate fifty-two landmark cancer studies to lay a firm foundation for an ambitious cancer moonshot, these carefully selected studies represented the research which had changed the way the field looks at cancer and spawned mountains of subsequent research—and found to its shock that in spite of following the procedures precisely and working closely with the original researchers whenever possible, 89% failed to find the same result. What made that 89% failure rate particularly disturbing is that no one thinks there is anything about those studies that would have made them in any way uniquely vulnerable so it’s reasonable to assume that if we bothered attempting replication we would find a similar failure rate in all peer reviewed and published cancer research, indeed all bio-medical research. Billions of dollars and decades wasted.
But surely all that has changed, right? The self-correcting nature of science must have kicked in after those revelations and fixed the problems. Not so fast. In 2018 long-time editor of The Lancet had this to say.
"The case against science is straightforward: much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness. Poor methods get publishable results. The Academy of Medical Sciences, Medical Research Council, and Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council have now put their reputational weight behind an investigation into these questionable research practices.
“The apparent endemicity of bad research behaviour is alarming. In their quest for telling a compelling story, scientists too often sculpt data to fit their preferred theory of the world. Or they retrofit hypotheses to fit their data.
“Journal editors deserve their fair share of criticism too. We aid and abet the worst behaviours. Our acquiescence to the impact factor fuels an unhealthy competition to win a place in a select few journals. Our love of “significance” pollutes the literature with many a statistical fairy-tale. We reject important confirmations.
“Journals are not the only miscreants. Universities are in a perpetual struggle for money and talent, endpoints that foster reductive metrics, such as high-impact publication. National assessment procedures, such as the Research Excellence Framework, incentivise bad practices. And individual scientists, including their most senior leaders, do little to alter a research culture that occasionally veers close to misconduct.”
Occasionally veers close to misconduct? Excuse me? Last year the Lancet had to retract a peer reviewed paper that was based on a non-existent database; that was out and out fraud, published on Horton’s watch. Just curious, were the peers that reviewed that fraudulent article lazy, incompetent, or in on the scam? Does it matter?
And now this. Another well positioned insider raises alarms. I confidently predict that this too will be ignored. At best it will initiate a round of hand-wringing—mistakes were made; we have got to do better—before being swept under the rug. That’s what happened to another BMJ study from a few years ago which found that half a million Americans are killed by medical error every year. Half a million killed by doctor mistakes year in, year out--and no one really cares. It's just part of the cost of doing business. Doctors are gods, science a religion. No amount of facts can falsify a religion.

The COVID-19 pandemic is one of the most manipulated infectious disease events in history, characterized by official lies in an unending stream lead by government bureaucracies, medical associations, medical boards, the media, and international agencies. We have witnessed a long list of unprecedented intrusions into medical practice, including attacks on medical experts, destruction of medical careers among doctors refusing to participate in killing their patients and a massive regimentation of health care, led by non-qualified individuals with enormous wealth, power and influence.
For the first time in American history a president, governors, mayors, hospital administrators and federal bureaucrats are determining medical treatments based not on accurate scientifically based or even experience based information, but rather to force the acceptance of special forms of care and “prevention”—including remdesivir, use of respirators and ultimately a series of essentially untested messenger RNA vaccines. For the first time in history medical treatment, protocols are not being formulated based on the experience of the physicians treating the largest number of patients successfully, but rather individuals and bureaucracies that have never treated a single patient—including Anthony Fauci, Bill Gates, EcoHealth Alliance, the CDC, WHO, state public health officers and hospital administrators.
The media (TV, newspapers, magazines, etc), medical societies, state medical boards and the owners of social media have appointed themselves to be the sole source of information concerning this so-called “pandemic”.
